Awakening has different stages and different meaning depending on the context and domain it is discussed in. I will demystify the awakening in its core.
Awakening is not something available for few enlightened people who miraculously get a mystical experience through a medium. Of course it is happening and some people do awaken in this way. It can be at a random family event when you suddenly realize something – the essence of life and your part in it. But what awakening truly means is the understanding and realization of who the REAL YOU is.
As we all being as children, we come on high level – as blank pages. We have our basic needs and we express them through what is available to us at the given stage of growth (either cry, pointing, later talking etc). We start learning – by mimicking our caregivers, close people and what is around us. We learn to respond to certain events by what we see. More and more so growing older. Children start saying things / respond to based on what they have seen, even not fully understanding the meaning of what they say at first etc. And so we learn about social norms, proper responses, proper behavior and what the society and close people around us expect.
Depending on the environment and the level of consciousness of people around us, we literally paint a certain understanding of the world and our expectations/assumptions towards it. If you have grown up in an environment that is fear based, you develop an image of world that is scary and you are protecting yourself consciously or unconsciously from it (and so does the nervous system). If you grow up in an environment that is supporting and uplifting, you’ll see the world full of possibilities. Not always so of course as we do always have FREE WILL to accept what is taught or not.
Awakening so, is understanding for ourselves – what belongs to us and what we have picked up. Taking the full responsibility of our own experience here and designing it in a way that we actually want it. In example, if you have grown up knowing that success only comes with hard work, you’ll create yourself the same experience. Unless you start questioning it – is it really so that hard work is the only path to success or is it something I learned, though I’d rather have it effortlessly. Awakening is creating your own desired worldview, understanding, experiences and nervous system reactions to it.
This path to change may not be comfortable. Sometimes we take ownership of beliefs that on the surface seem so much as defining us, that giving up on them seems like losing ourselves. But once you decide to take the charge and driver seat, a world of infinite possibilities emerges and the discomfort is nothing next to it. You allow yourself to be YOU, without borders and boundaries, this is the freedom most of us search for most of the life without realizing it has always been here, just behind an invisible veil.
